Antygin

I dont know about you, but I LOVE gin!

Now I live in Cambridge, so when I got told that there was a gin being developed in Cambridge that was made of ant, yes ants, i had to find out more!

Meet Anty gin;

It looks AMAZING!

Now to the ants, Red wood ants, Formica rufa, are found naturally in forests around the Northern Hemisphere, communitcating using a range of chmical pheremones allow these amazing animals to communicate and run a sustainable population. They are well known for producing Formic acid, if you get to close to these large wood ant nests you will have formic acid sprayed from ants to you, it feels acin to falling into a nettle bush, for you that dont know, its not nice!

Formic acid is the key ingredent for the gin, its very reactive to alcohol producing the gins distinctive taste. For every bottle of gin there are 62 wood ants, making a batch of it included over 6,000+ ants, all foraged and preserved in Kent. With that much work being put into each and every bottle it becomes more understanding how they have a £200 price tag to each of the 99 bottles that were produced in the first batch.

Now I dont know about you, but that is one drink I cant wait to try!
