Zoo Life

Sometimes i forget how amazing the opertunity to work within a zoo is, spending your days filled with animals what could be better!

working in close contact with big cats was a highlight, not going to lie, but it was the smaller animals that you could actually get in contact with, personal note you still can hug the tigers, even if you work there.

Being Invertebrate inclinded allowed me to get away with spending 98% of my time in the 'Bug room', the other 2% was getting food to allow me to go back inside the bug room'. Advatage of loving the little things in life, people tend to leave you alone when you tell them that its time to clean our the cockroaches and snails.

I did work with the slightly more furry animals in the zoo but with such high competion to work with them you really need to know your stuff! had to really hit the books to learn all the information for the red panda talks!

This is Mr Pickles, possible my favorite animal after all the inverts in my care. He used to bury himself until feeding time. Even then somtimes the crickets would just become hats!

If you ever getthe chance to work in a zoo, or even volunteer, it is one of the most rewarding things you can do!

you all ways hear of animal conservation facts and it can somtimes feel like a losing battle when you never see any results. But working in zoo's or aquariums you really feel like you are making a diffrence, to the animals in your care, and their wild counterparts. Sometimes when after a talk and someone tells you that they were terified about invertebrates but now realise that they are a vital part of the world it makes collecting brambles in minus 2 snow worth it, well almost :)
